February 6, 2018 (Basel, Switzerland) –– Camacho, the world’s leading brand of bold cigars, is proud to introduce its third master-built release, Camacho Nicaraguan Barrel-Aged.
“Bold and intense take on a new meaning with the master-built Camacho Nicaragua Barrel-Aged. Having pioneered and perfected the art of aging Original Corojo tobacco in Kentucky Bourbon barrels for American Barrel-Aged, Camacho’s master builders have continued their relentless quest, venturing further south to harness the wild aromas of Nicaragua. The result is a powerful new blend that invites aficionados around the globe to stare down the barrel of Nicaragua’s true spirit,” said Edward Simon, Head Global Marketing & Innovation at Oettinger Davidoff AG.
For this new project, Camacho began working with intense, Nicaraguan-grown Corojo fillers, painstakingly aging them in extra-old Nicaraguan rum barrels for five months. To hit the mark, the Camacho master builders collaborated with the team at Flor de Caña in Nicaragua to hand-select these barrels for optimal humidity. Some had been filled with rum for 25 years. Starting with the sweet, spicy and oaky flavors that define tobacco from this region, Estelí-grown Corojo is aged in some of the world’s oldest Nicaraguan rum barrels. These well-seasoned rum barrels were hand-selected for optimal humidity, and add layers of complexity for an entirely unique experience. Toasted notes combined with leather and oak are rounded out by sweet flavors and caramel notes from the aged rum. Lastly, the proprietary Powerband™ bunching process amplifies this complex combination, resulting in a peak-performance and an explosion of aromas.
LIVE LOUD IN SPIRIT, LIVE LOUD IN TASTE – CAMACHO’S NEW CIGAR EXPERIENCE IS FEARLESSLY PRECISE, POWERFULLY COMPLEX, AND UNDENIABLY INTENSE
BLEND INFORMATION
Wrapper: “Habano” 2000 from Ecuador
Binder: Negrito San Andrés from Mexico
Filler: Corojo from Nicaragua; Piloto Cubano and San Vicente from Dominican Republic
A UNIQUE NEW BARREL-AGED EXPERIENCE
The complexity of the San Vicente Seco and Piloto Cubano tobaccos in combination with the deep, oaky, spicy and sweet flavors of the Nicaraguan Corojo Barrel Aged tobacco deliver a completely new taste experience. Heady and multi layered with notes of wood, leather and nuts never leaving a dull moment for your palate. In addition, the creaminess from the “Habano” Ecuador wrapper reduces the intensity of the filler tobaccos. The proprietary Powerband™ bunching delivers an excellent burn and perfect draw for a unique cigar that performs as well as it tastes.
TWO TOBACCO COMPOSITIONS IN COMPARISON
Fans of both rum and bourbon will find two very different experiences between the two Barrel Aged blends. American Barrel-Aged draws greater impact from the charred interior of the bourbon barrel and earthy notes from the Broadleaf tobaccos, while Nicaraguan Barrel-Aged has more oaky notes, sweetness from the spent rum and spicy aromas from the Nicaraguan Corojo. Two striking blends, two unique barrel-aged taste experiences to embark on.
