The CQ Roll Call, a online Capitol Hill news source, and the San Diego Union-Tribune, reported today that Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) is once again under scrutiny for his spending habits, as he allegedly used campaign money on a Las Vegas trip, spending $1,042 at the Cosmopolitan Hotel and $896 at the hotel’s bar called the Chandelier. Rep. Duncan also spent $353 on “food/beverages” at Alpine Tobacco Company smoking lounge (see original post below).
This use of campaign funds for personal expenses comes despite the fact that Rep. Hunter remains under federal criminal investigation for this financial mismanagement, and has already had to reimburse his campaign $60,000.

On January 25, Smokeasy posted the story of the three congressmen who penned a letter to US Vice President Mike Pence in support of suspension of enforcement of the US Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) deeming regulations of premium cigars and cigar manufacturers and retailers, which went into effect on August 8, 2016 (click Congressmen Pen Letter to VP Pence On FDA Cigar Regs). Well, it appears that one of those congressmen, Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) continues to be under scrutiny about his election campaign finances being utilized for personal purposes.
According to an article in The San Diego Union-Journal, Rep. Hunter's financial disclosure report demonstrated that campaign funds were spent at a few cigar lounges since April 2015. Duncan has reimbursed his campaign for more than $60,000 his office identified as personal, mistaken or insufficiently documented.
