Smokeasy Q&A

Random questions frequently asked by novice smokers and aspiring cigar connoisseurs

Is there any way to speed up the recovery of a dry cigar, like dipping in water, spraying with water mist, or placing in a steamy bathroom?

Absolutely NOT!

Please NEVER try any of these in efforts to revive a dry cigar. The proper process requires time and patience - and that entails simply placing the dry cigar in a properly humidified humidor and letting it rest. May take a few weeks to a few months, depending on its condition of dryness. They can be rehydrated as long as the wrapper hasn't cracked from dryness, and the cigars have not become so dry that all the oils have evaporated from the tobaccos. You cannot rush the process by overhumidifying the cigar, you will ruin it as the higher humidity level will cause the filler to swell and burst through the wrapper leaf.
