A Message to the US Presidential Candidates From CRA
On Tuesday, September 22, Glynn Loope, the president of Cigar Rights of America (CRA), penned a lengthy open letter to each of the US Democratic and Republican presidential candidates. The letter urges the candidates to open up dialog with the cigar industry - including manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and consumers. The letter also describes the implications of the proposed US Food and Drug Administration regulation of premium cigars on the industry. Loope informs the candidates that the CRA is "a network and constituency worthy of (their) time and attention."

Nate McIntyre Announces the Launch of Percy Ray Cigars
Yesterday September 23, Nate McIntyre, the southeast regional sales manager for Cubanacan Cigars, announced the launch of his own cigar brand. The following is was anounced via Facebook:
After years of retail cigar sales, part time sales, full time sales, and many thousands of miles of travel across the Southeast and numerous other parts of the country, I now have opportunity to announce something new about which I'm extremely excited.
I will be launching "Percy Ray Cigars," named after my grandfather. Percy Ray is slated to be an annual Limited edition manufactured at Cubanacan Cigars Factory, S.A. I will continue to serve the Southeast region for Cubanacan, in addition to being the co-owner/director of Percy Ray Cigars.
I am currently finalizing the blend, and this first release will come in one size and one blend. Only 800 boxes will be made on this first run, available as a regional exclusive.
Percy Ray McIntyre is now 87 years old. His knuckles are black from decades of long, hard work. He would tell you himself that he has not a regret in the world. I've worked my butt off in this industry for a very long time, and that work ethic and my values are all fruits of my grandfathers example. He is the best man I've ever known, and I plan on making good cigars for good people in his honor. There is still much to be done, and I thank all of my dear friends and family I have met on the road. Without each of you, none of this would be possible.
